What do clients appreciate about you?
Clients appreciate that I approach communication with empathy and candour. I do my best to sense client apprehensions early, so I can explain the process and situation in a way that makes sense and assuages their fears. I find that this is particularly important for tax matters, as dealing with the CRA can be intimidating to many.
What’s the most rewarding thing about being an accountant at Edelkoort Smethurst CPAs LLP in Burlington?
I have been able to work on a diverse array of areas in Canada & US tax, financial statement preparation, assurance, and bookkeeping. I have also suggested process improvements that have been implemented, letting me know that my perspective is valued by my superiors. It also feels good when I am able to help a client in a meaningful way, and even better when they thank us or leave a positive review.

KitKat chunky, because I have fond memories of buying them from the snack bar at my baseball games as a kid.
